This role is a full-time role, based in Queenstown, MD. The hourly rate ranges from $25-$30 and is commensurate with experience.
Organization DescriptionFounded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides “a different kind of healing” to thousands of children with serious illnesses and their families annually – all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Conn, in dozens of hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities and through other outreach activities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
PositionDescription
This position is responsible for both building maintenance and grounds work, as needed, with a focus on buildings maintenance and repair. Extensive carpentry skills are required for this position.
- Openandwinterizebuildingsfortheseason.
- Formulateandimplementcreativesolutionsforbuildingissues.
- Assistwithspecialprojectsincludingpropconstructionfor Campactivities.
- Serveasabackupforswimmingpoolmaintenanceandoperation.
- Serveasbackuptoperformweeklyfirepumptests.
- Serveasbackuptoperformmonthlyinspectionsincluding
HVACfilters,emergencylights&exitsigns,andfireextinguishers. - Removesnowfromroads,sidewalks,andparkinglots,andspreadiceremovalproductsonsidewalksandparkinglotsduringicyconditionsbeingavailableforweekendworkasneeded.
- Landscapegroundareasthroughout Campincludingplantingandtrimminglawns,trees,bushes,hedges,andshrubs.
- Throughpositiveleadership,demonstratethecorevaluesoftheorganization.
- Assistwithspecialprojectsandperformadditionaldutiesasassigned.
- Threeyearsofexperienceinbuildingtradeswithafocusoncarpentryandgeneralbuildingsystems.
- Knowledgeoffederal,stateandlocallaws,codesandregulationsrelatedtoareasofassignments.
- Theabilitytoestablishpositiverelationshipswithavarietyofpeopleinmulticulturalenvironments.
- Theabilitytousecomputersoftwaretoobtaindailyassignmentsandtodocumenttaskprogress.
- Aknowledgeofmethodsoflandscapingincludingmowing,trimming,fellingtrees,maintaininggravelroadsandpathsandsnowremoval.
- Theabilitytooperateavarietyofhandandpowerequipmentinasafeandeffectivemanner.
- Theabilitytosafelyperformallcarpentryskillsincludingframing,cabinetry,windowanddoorinstallation,andgeneralwoodworking.
- Extensivecarpentryskillsrequired.
- Theabilitytocommunicateclearlywith Facility Directorandotherteammembers .
- Theabilitytoreach,bend,stoopandfrequentlyliftupto
50pounds. - Theabilitytoworkinastandingpositionforlongperiodsoftime(upto9hours.)
- Theabilitytoworkextendedhours,includingeveningsandweekendsandoncallhoursasneeded
- Avalid Driver'slicenseanddrivingrecordwhichmeets
HITWGinsurancecarrierrequirements.
Abilitytotraveltoassignedworksites. - Workschedulewillgenerallycoincidewithweekendswhileprogrammingisinsession.
Normally Wednesday-Sunday from Maythrough Octoberand Monday -Friday from November through April .
