Position: Lead Sales (Key Holder), Full Time, Annapolis - West Elm

Lead, Sales (Key Holder) Role

Overview:
As the Lead Sales Key Holder, you will inspire customers to express themselves in their home, bring the brand to life, and drive sales by creating meaningful connections that turn first‑time visitors into lasting customers. You will support the management team, supervise associates, and uphold high standards of customer service, visual merchandising, and store operations.

Responsibilities
  • Create engaging customer experiences by sharing expertise on home enhancement.
  • Support daily store operations, including opening and closing routines, register functions, and back‑office procedures.
  • Supervise associates to ensure financial goals are met and World‑Class service is delivered.
  • Maintain visual appearance, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back‑of‑house standards during shifts.
  • Serve as the Selling Captain, modeling sales and customer‑service excellence.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity.
Qualifications
  • Effective communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples.
  • 1–3 years of retail sales experience with shift‑supervision experience preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in home‑related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities preferred (specialty retail preferred, but not required).
Physical Requirements
  • Mobile on the sales floor for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and mobilizing medium to large items up to 75 lbs., using appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
  • Full‑time associates must have open availability to meet business needs.
  • Part‑time flex associates must be available for at least two regularly scheduled weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) and two weekday shifts, with separate days for weekend availability.
