Position: Technical Adoption Manager (Federal)

TECHNICAL ADOPTION MANAGER

You will serve as a trusted advisor, driving a cross‑functional, unified customer experience using your technical, communication, and collaboration skills to help our customers achieve their full potential through the adoption of VMware’s technology.

You will guide enterprise customers by enabling them to rapidly and successfully onboard, adopt, and realize business value through success planning, execution, and technical guidance throughout the customer journey.

Candidates must live in the National Capital Region and hold an active Top Secret security clearance with polygraph.

Success in the Role
  • Within one month: articulate customer key business objectives and desired outcomes and begin crafting a joint Success Plan with the customer.
  • Throughout the customer engagement, serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring best‑in‑class execution and recommending improvements that add value, proactively driving consumption, customer health, and retention.
  • Articulate the customer’s long‑term and short‑term goals, identify gaps, and develop a structured engagement plan.
  • Complete relevant technology assessments, roadmap reviews, deployment guidance, best‑practice reviews, and day‑2 operations guidance.
  • Identify customer use cases and opportunities for prescribing adoption guidance and workshops.
  • Present achievements and customer progress in Regular Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Communicate key VMware solutions across all customer levels to drive realized value and long‑term strategy.
  • Continue to grow technical knowledge (VMW and industry offerings) and soft skills through structured quarterly training programs.
The Work
  • Leverage proven customer‑facing experience in roles such as solution engineer, technology consultant, professional services, or IT vendor.
  • Apply knowledge of enterprise‑level virtualization and map VMware solutions to the customer’s unique business and technical requirements.
  • Utilize Multi‑Cloud products (Infrastructure SDDC, Cloud Services, Network Virtualization, Automation/Monitoring).
  • Use the TAM playbook, delivery kits, and tools to guide customers through: success planning, technology roadmaps, solution guidance, operational optimization, industry insights, and CxO‑level communication.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional VMware teams—consultants, engineers, product managers, and support staff—ensuring a cohesive customer experience.
  • Maintain organizational and planning skills to track and adjust customer plans, driving them to completion.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Global Support, Education, Professional Services, Development, and Sales to create “customers for life.”
  • Contribute back to the global TAM community through sharing best‑practice and learning from peers.

Compensation

On‑Target Earnings (OTE) range: $151,900 – $243,000. OTE includes sales incentive commission in accordance with plan documents and is eligible for equity awards.
