Sales Representative, Business Development, Account Manager
The Opportunity
Manages a large territory of customer accounts, serving as the primary point of contact post‑sale, managing complex negotiations and driving customer satisfaction, retention, and business growth. Engages with clients through a mix of face‑to‑face meetings and digital channels (e.g., phone, email, video conferencing) to close sales, provide ongoing support, and ensure high‑quality customer experience.
Qualifications- Education:
College degree or equivalent/applicable experience, preferred. - Experience:
Prefer 2‑5 years of experience working in a complex sales environment, where multiple people are involved in the purchasing decision and there is a solution‑based selling approach. - Collaboration Tool:
Microsoft Office, specifically Teams, with preference for experience in CRM systems and Qlik Sense. - Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to those who have worked in a laboratory or research environment and/or with distribution experience and a scientific background. Bachelor’s degree within the sciences. - Excellent communication and team interaction skills; routinely interacting with customers, manufacturers, and staff.
- Ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners and decision makers.
- Ability to work independently and successfully manage time and territory.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to sell strategically within an account.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations minimum 4 days a week; must have a valid driver’s license.
- Sell consultatively, detailing products, determining customer needs and requirements, and making recommendations to both prospects and customers.
- Leverage available resources to effectively implement company marketing plan, strategies and sales processes.
- Build and sustain relationships with customers and ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Work with sales management to develop strategic territory business plans and strategies for achievement of sales growth and quota attainment.
- Manage VWR’s vast product portfolio and execute and implement company defined sales and marketing strategies.
- Prospect and establish new customers by managing a sales pipeline and developing and delivering proposals to customers by illustrating VWR’s value proposition.
- Expand VWR’s role with existing customers by developing retention strategies illustrating our value proposition in conjunction with evolving customer requirements.
- Represent and develop strong relationships with manufacturers. Work directly with local manufacturer representatives to develop and continually improve product knowledge, arrive at most favored pricing, and improve account profitability.
- Consultatively sell VWR’s large portfolio of products and services to a diverse set of current and prospective clients.
- Mentor less experienced sales representatives and contribute to regional sales strategy.
- Support the growth of the local higher education sales efforts as a full‑time position based in and around the Baltimore area.

The expected pre‑tax pay for this position is $59,150.00 – $. This reflects base salary. The position is subject to incentive compensation, where the expected pre‑tax Target Cash Opportunity (“TCO”) for this position is based on the achieved sales and in the amount/range of $98,600.00 – $.
