Summary
The purpose of the Child and Youth Program (CYP) Direct Care Supervisor position is to assist the facility Director in providing routine supervisory oversight, support and instruction for CYP Direct Care Professionals in Child Development Centers (CDC) and School Age Care (SAC) Programs. The CYP Direct Care Supervisor provides oversight and accountability of assigned staff during all hours of program operation.

- Supervisory Duties:
Directs work to be accomplished by staff; assigns work based on priorities and staff capabilities; conducts annual performance reviews; participates in staffing decisions; ensures staff training; addresses disciplinary and performance issues; supports equal employment opportunity policy and a discrimination-free work environment. - Personnel Management:
Supervises a team of direct care professionals and volunteers; hires and trains staff; establishes local performance standards; develops staffing schedules; ensures development of developmentally appropriate SAC/CDC programs; coordinates field trips; conducts quality assurance of records; ensures programs for children with special needs; adheres to parent instructions. - Program Management:
Resolves personnel complaints; promotes continuing education and credentials for staff. - Program Operations:
Guides staff with medication administration when required; maintains program security and safety checks. - Communication:
Interacts with parents, CYP professionals, installation personnel, school representatives and partner organizations; applies DON policies; ensures SOPs; ensures compliance with DoD CYP requirements; collaborates with other CYP leaders; conducts parent orientations and conferences as needed. - Compliance:
Maintains observations and behavior strategies; supports inclusion plans. - Management Operations:
Assists with DoD certification, oversees core programs, reviews incident documentation, maintains child records, ensures CACFP compliance, and serves as a mandatory reporter per local policy.
- Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 with Child Care check, and a SCHR check.
- Ability to complete required training certificates and maintain certifications or credentials required by federal/state/national accreditation bodies.
- Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with PL 101-647 (NACI).
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization evidence, be free of communicable diseases, and obtain required immunizations.
- Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment.
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. A positive test or failure to test may lead to removal from employment.

- Specialized experience in the child and/or youth profession or education appropriate to the position.
- Knowledge of regulations, policies, and standards applicable to the CYP.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programming for ages 6 weeks to 18 years.
- Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws governing detection, prevention, and reporting of child abuse/neglect.
- Leadership and team management abilities, motivation and learning style understanding in a CYP environment.
- Program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling skills.
- Leadership, mentoring, coaching to develop teams in collaborative environments.
- Ability to conduct informal/formal assessments of children to inform decisions and improve programming.
- Ability to observe CYP direct care staff, provide feedback and follow-up.
- Ability to support developmental training of CYP staff and address illness and safety concerns.
- Ability to evaluate classroom/activity programs and implement corrective actions.
- Effective English communication, both oral and written; strong interpersonal skills with children, youth and adults.
- Ability to respond to emergencies including evacuations and health needs.
