JOB SUMMARY
Provides services to those students in-class or virtual programs in need of intensive counseling/social work services as identified by the school team and their families. Provide intensive therapeutic and family intervention services to the identified school population. Works with school personnel to reduce barriers to learning. Provides resources to assist students as needed, in traditional schools and/or virtual environment. Virtual experience may be required based on assignment.
Bilingual and biliterate in targeted language may be required depending on assignment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts in-person or virtual individual therapy and/or group counseling on a regular basis; provides necessary counseling and other related services to students with disabilities according to their Individualized Education Programs.
- Interviews student and family members to determine nature and degree of needs.
- Coordinates and collaborates with community agencies to assist students when needed.
- Interprets psychiatric and other treatments and assessments to family and individual students.
- Plans and conducts professional development trainings and individual consultations, in person or virtually, for teachers in-classroom management, curriculum planning and instructional techniques, the handling of behavior and other problems, and issues related to special education, child abuse, sexual harassment, and crisis prevention and intervention.
- Participates in crisis intervention services, including individual and school-wide prevention, intervention and post-vention activities, conducts threat determinations as needed.
- Consults with school staff to enhance student’s school performance.
- Attends and participates in school-based team conferences, Section 504 multidisciplinary meetings and IEP team meetings where appropriate and within required timelines; serves as a witness in special education mediations and hearings as requested.
- Provides support and services to families experiencing personal and environmental variables, such as economic hardship (poverty), which interfere with student progress. May conduct home visits, if appropriate.
- Completes required documentation within timelines, including case notes, IEP documentation, Medicaid billing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Master's Degree in Social Work from a regionally accredited college or university required.
Experience
- One (1) year experience providing social work services in a clinical or school setting dealing with children/adolescents and their families required.
- One (1) year experience with virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools required.
- One (1) year school-based experience preferred.
