Description
Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex, high-performance software systems supporting analytics, algorithm development, and large‑scale data processing. This role involves working independently and within teams to implement, integrate, test, and optimize software solutions across real‑time and enterprise environments while contributing to system design decisions including hardware/software trade‑offs, COTS/GOTS integration, and requirements analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues
- Integrate software into new or existing systems and operating environments
- Develop and optimize database queries, interfaces, and data workflows
- Implement algorithms meeting strict performance, timing, and resource constraints
- Support system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis using scientific methods
- Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to define requirements and interfaces
- Write and maintain software and system documentation
- Execute and support software testing, validation, and quality control processes
- Recommend and implement improvements to development processes and standards
- Evaluate and incorporate new tools, technologies, and methodologies
- Lead or support software development teams, including task delegation and oversight
- Ensure all software deliverables meet quality, performance, and compliance requirements
- Coordinate software deployment and monitor system performance post‑installation
- 12+ years of Software Engineering experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
- Experience developing complex software systems, including analytics, algorithms, and large‑scale data processing
- Proven ability to support full SDLC activities, including design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and team collaboration
- U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a security background investigation and polygraph
- This position requires an active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph
