Job SummaryPerforms a variety of duties in connection with receiving, storing, issuing and shipping within a warehouse area. May be required to operate a forklift in conjunction with normal duties.
Responsibilities- Receives and unloads incoming merchandise deliveries; opens, inspects, counts, marks, unpacks, segregates and tags items; verifies items against documentation; reports shortages, overages, or damaged items to supervisor; may sign for merchandise.
- Maintains stock in specified locations; periodically checks labels or bins for accuracy; corrects location errors or notifies supervisor.
- Pulls merchandise for shipment, transfers, or customer orders following system or supervisor instructions; verifies information against documents.
- Assists in the charge‑back area for over‑shipped or damaged merchandise; prepares and processes charge‑backs per established procedures.
- Performs periodic inventories as required; assists supervisor with inventory preparation.
- Maintains clean and orderly stock areas through basic housekeeping duties.
- Operates material handling equipment (MHE) capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds and 30‑foot height to move, load, unload, transfer, transport, stack or unstuck merchandise or supplies.
- Operates manual material movement equipment up to 2,500 pounds for the same tasks.
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor; follows established policy and procedures; work reviewed for efficiency and adherence.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- General experience: eighteen months in warehousing related duties (receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, operating manual MHE).
- Educational substitution: one year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience; up to a high school diploma or GED substituted for 12 months of experience.
- Training: associate must receive Hazardous Material (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
Walks, stoops, bends, and stands for long periods; may lift and carry boxes up to 40 lbs and sometimes over 50 lbs with assistance; uses push carts; climbs ladders; uses sharp instrument to break open boxes.
Working ConditionsWorks indoors and/or outdoors; environments may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot; performed in close quarters in storage areas, aisles, ramps, or platforms; risk of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, or falling stock.
Training RequirementHazardous Material (Haz Mat) training within 90 days of hire.
