Testing Center Specialist I

The Testing Center Specialist I would be responsible for testing center operations under the Testing Coordinator's supervision, including administration and monitoring of multiple testing programs such as ACCUPLACER, ACCUPLACER ATB, NST-C, Med Tech, MSSC, ACT Work Keys, ACT On-Campus, GED, and other tests as needed. The position will be responsible for test security, confidentiality, test provider compliance, technology troubleshooting, scheduling, score entry, inventory of testing materials/assets, and maintaining the overall integrity of the testing processes.

Direct Supervisory Responsibility: NO

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the Testing Center – Ayers Campus, under the supervision of the Testing Coordinator
  • Proctor and monitor examinees as required by test providers for ACCUPLACER, ACCUPLACER ATB, Alabama Nursing Support Technician – NST-C, MSSC, ACT Work Keys, ACT On-Campus, GED, and other tests as necessary
  • Prepare examinees for testing by performing security checks, completing admission requirements, and providing relevant instructions for each test
  • Ensure all prohibited items are securely stored in lockers before examinees enter testing
  • Provide technical assistance to examinees during testing when necessary
  • Maintain the proper test-taking environment during the entirety of each testing session
  • Create testing schedules and schedule testing appointments as necessary
  • Maintain a working knowledge of testing platforms and communicate with test provider tech support and/or College IT to resolve technology issues
  • Report issues to test providers as required by their policies and
  • Conduct regular test material/asset inventory to avoid interruptions in testing administration
  • Enter test scores and obtain student information for related purposes
  • Maintain records, operate computer, scanner, and other office equipment
  • Monitor testing programs for software/equipment updates
  • Maintain security and integrity of all testing-related processes and procedures
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor, including administering tests on other campuses of the College and off-campus locations as necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality in handling information related to examinees, students, and institutional information, including FERPA requirements
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of test providers, and maintain up-to-date guides, manuals, and other resources for quick reference
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the Alabama Community College System and the College
Qualifications
  • Associate degree, plus with at least 15 semester hours of postsecondary coursework in business, technology, office administration, or a closely related field from an approved U.S. Department of Education accredited institution required
  • Two (2) years of experience in business, education, or related work required
  • Keyboarding proficiency of at least 40 correct (net) words per minute required
  • Demonstrated competency in general office procedures and proofreading (Basic Office Procedures Exam) required
  • Experience in the use of technology, including computer hardware, software applications, database management, and other technology platforms preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.) preferred

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written form
  • Organizational and time management skills in handling, directing, and prioritizing the testing schedule and related assignments
  • Ability to work independently with limited daily supervision
  • Ability to adapt and quickly learn new tasks, office systems, and testing platforms
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform accurate mathematical computations
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public
