Position: ISS Teacher *Anticipated 2026-2027*
POSITION:
Teacher - In School Suspension Classroom

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To help students learn subject matter and skills in a classroom setting that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of society.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Alabama Teacher Certification

2. Teaching experience preferred

3. Ability to work effectively with students

REPORTS TO:

Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Keeps all records required by the principal and the school system.

2. Maintains order and discipline in his/her classroom by use of classroom management techniques.

3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.

4. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student group.

5. Strives to implement by instruction and action the school system's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

6. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.

7. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, system policy, and administrative regulations.

8. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.

9. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

10. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.

11. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

12. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.

13. Provides for his/her professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.

14. Performs such other duties as the principal may determine.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine Months

SALARY:
Based Upon District Salary Schedule
