Position Summary
The Construction/Electrical Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Alabama State Department of Education Career and Technical Education standards in the Construction and Electrical pathway. The instructor will prepare students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, military service, and employment in high-demand construction and electrical occupations through rigorous classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, industry credentialing opportunities, and work-based learning experiences.
The instructor shall establish and maintain a safe learning environment while fostering industry partnerships, supporting career readiness initiatives, and promoting student achievement through credential attainment and workforce preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
* Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with Alabama Course of Study standards for Construction and Electrical Technology.
* Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction utilizing industry-standard equipment, tools, and technology.
* Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
* Maintain accurate lesson plans, pacing guides, student records, and instructional documentation.
* Integrate employability skills, workplace readiness competencies, and career exploration activities into daily instruction.
* Utilize student performance data to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
* Promote literacy, mathematics, technology integration, and problem-solving skills within career and technical instruction.
Industry Credentialing and Workforce Development
* Prepare students to earn industry-recognized credentials, including but not limited to:
* NCCER Core
* NCCER Electrical Certifications
* OSHA-10 Certification
* Other state-approved industry credentials
* Maintain credentialing records and documentation required by the Alabama State Department of Education.
* Monitor student progress toward credential attainment and career readiness goals.
* Assist students in developing career portfolios, resumes, and employability skills.
Work-Based Learning Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support work-based learning opportunities, including:
* Internships
* Apprenticeships
* Job shadowing
* Industry tours
* Career exploration experiences
* Collaborate with the ACS Work-Based Learning Coordinator and employers to identify and secure meaningful workplace experiences for students.
* Conduct site visits and maintain documentation required for work-based learning placements.
* Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations governing student work experiences.
Student Organization Responsibilities
* Serve as advisor for Skills
USA or other approved Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).
* Recruit and prepare students for local, regional, state, and national competitions.
* Promote leadership development, teamwork, professionalism, and community service.
* Maintain all CTSO records, reports, and required documentation.
Program Management Responsibilities
* Maintain a safe, organized, and productive laboratory environment.
* Enforce all safety regulations and industry standards.
* Conduct regular equipment inspections and inventory management.
* Maintain tools, equipment, instructional materials, and facilities in accordance with district and industry standards.
* Assist in the development and implementation of annual program improvement plans.
* Participate in pathway reviews, audits, and monitoring activities.
* Assist with grant-funded equipment purchases and instructional resource management.
Recruitment and Community Engagement
* Participate in middle school recruitment activities and career awareness events.
* Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and the Career Coach to promote pathway enrollment.
