Pre-K Teacher

Qualifications:

• Must hold one of the following degrees:
  Early Childhood Education degree, Human Environmental Science degree with concentration in Early Childhood Development or Child Development, Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework, Elementary Education degree with a minimum of 18 hours in early childhood/child development coursework
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
• Valid Alabama Driver's License
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain a welcoming and well-organized classroom.
• Create a supportive learning community.
• Develop a positive learning culture.
• Provide experiences that help children gather and build knowledge about their world.
• Construct a classroom community where children have a sense of belonging, share interests, and experiences.
• Plan for instructional and assessment responsibilities, child supervision, and other classroom duties with Auxiliary Teachers
• Build relationships with students.
• Model desirable behaviors.
• Develop classroom rules with students.
• Follow all Office of School Readiness guidelines.
• Maintain records as required by federal, state, system and local policies
• Teach curriculum established by the Alabama Office of School Readiness.
• Establish and maintain proper and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
• Abide by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
• Be familiar with and follow Calhoun County Board of Education Policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
