Job description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Scribe Contractor to join our team on a contract basis. As a Technical Scribe, you will be responsible for reviewing, performing, and capturing comments related to drafted Operator, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting procedures for technical accuracy, adequacy, logic, functionality, and MIL-STD compliance improvement. If you have excellent writing and editing skills, a strong technical aptitude, and a keen attention to detail, we encourage you to apply.
Skills Required
Writing and Communication
Skills:
* Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate documentation
* Strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Technical
Skills:
* Familiarity with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
* Knowledge of military vehicles and or knowledge of military publications
* Basic understanding of MIL-STD-40051 Analytical and Problem-Solving
Skills:
* Ability to analyze complex technical information and simplify it for various audiences
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve documentation issues
* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and files
Skills Preferred
Advanced Writing and Communication
Skills:
* Experience with creating complex technical documentation for military applications
* Strong editing and proofreading skills Technical
Skills:
* In-depth knowledge of military vehicles and systems (e.g., aircraft, ground vehicles, naval vessels)
* Familiarity with military publications and standards MIL-STD-40051/Mil-Hdbk-1222 Military Documentation
Experience:
* Experience working with military documentation, including technical manuals, repair manuals, and training materials
* Familiarity with military documentation processes and procedures.
* Familiarity with military terminology and acronyms (e.g., DoD, NATO, MIL-STD)
Experience Required
Technical Writing
Experience:
* 2-3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a military or defense-related industry Military Documentation
Experience:
* 1-2 years of experience working with military documentation, including technical manuals, repair manuals, and training materials Familiarity with Military Standards and Regulations:
* 1 year of experience working with military standards and regulations, such as MIL-STD-40051 Analytical and Problem-Solving
Experience:
* 1-2 years of experience analyzing complex technical information and creating user-friendly documentation
* 4-6 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on technical writing, military documentation, and analytical skills.
Experience Preferred
* Possession of a valid security clearance (e.g., Secret) is preferred, but not required Military Documentation
Experience:
* 3+ years of experience working with military documentation, including: + Technical manuals + Repair manuals + Training materials + Military standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD-40051/Mil-Hdbk-1222 Technical Writing
Experience:
* 5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a military or defense-related industry
* Experience creating complex technical documentation, including technical manuals, repair manuals, and training materials
Education Required
Certifications:
* Certifications in technical writing (e.g., CPTC, CWNP) or a related field are highly preferred Additional
Education:
* Continuing education or professional development in technical writing, editing, and communication is beneficial
* Familiarity with military standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD-40051) is highly preferred
* MOS 91P,91H,91M or 91A Equivalent
Experience:
Equivalent experience and education may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Relevant Coursework:
* Coursework in technical writing, editing, and communication is highly preferred
* Coursework in military studies, defense-related fields, or technical fields (e.g., engineering, computer science) is also beneficial
Education Preferred
Certifications:
* Certifications in technical writing or a related field Continuing
Education:
* Continuing education or professional development in technical writing, editing, and communication Military Occupational Specialty (MOS):
* MOS 91P, 91H, 91M, or 91A Relevant Coursework:
* Coursework in technical writing, editing, and communication
