ResponsibilitiesSUMMARY: Welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses, including dissimilar metals such as copper to steel. Operates various hand‑welding, flame‑cutting, hand‑soldering or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. May set up, operate and/or tend to robots that weld, braze, solder or heat treat metal products, components or assemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Join, fabricate, and repair metal parts and other weldable material to form permanent bonds by applying appropriate welding techniques.
- Prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.
- Weld metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches.
- Use electrical currents to create heat and bond metals.
- Plan work by interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics.
- Observe tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Performs manual tasks according to established procedures.
- Requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process.
- Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines.
- Works with close supervision.
Education and/or
Experience:
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree.
- Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and Experience.
- Preferred Discipline/Major:
Associate's Degree with Technical degree or equivalent training and experience. - 2–4 years prior experience in a similar position.
