3rd shift Foundry Superintendent

A well-established metal manufacturing and foundry operation is seeking an experienced Third Shift Superintendent to lead overnight production operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for the safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and overall performance of the third shift.

This position requires meaningful experience in a foundry or metal manufacturing environment, with direct exposure to melting operations. Candidates with strong general manufacturing leadership experience but without foundry, melting, or metal-processing experience will not be the ideal fit.

Provide overall leadership and direction for third-shift foundry and metal manufacturing operations
.

Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and production employees.

Oversee melting and production operations
, ensuring processes are performed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.

Monitor production schedules, staffing, productivity, downtime, scrap, quality, and overall shift performance.

Work closely with maintenance, quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve operational issues.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, particularly around furnaces, molten metal, material handling, and other foundry operations
.

Drive accountability for production, quality, safety, and operational performance.

Review production reports and communicate shift performance, challenges, and priorities to plant leadership.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and downtime, and improve production performance.

Address employee performance concerns and build a culture of accountability and teamwork.

Ensure effective shift handoffs and communication between shifts and departments.

Respond quickly and effectively to unexpected production, equipment, staffing, quality, or safety challenges.

• Previous leadership experience in a foundry, metal manufacturing, melting, casting, or heavy industrial production environment

• Direct experience with melting operations is strongly preferred and will be a significant consideration for this position.
• Understanding of furnace operations, melting processes, metal handling, casting, and overall foundry production flow
  .
• Experience leading production teams, supervisors, and/or team leads.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and operational standards.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, make decisions, and maintain production in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of overnight operations.
