Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

Overview

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Alabama, requiring ACLS, BLS, and an active Alabama or Compact RN license, with strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills.

• PCU/Stepdown unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac and telemetry-requiring patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating to Med/Surg units required
• Required skills include IV insertion, Heparin protocols, and managing cardiac drips (no titration)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Prior permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this travel position
• Hospital-provided housing is available — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; gender-specific units; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
• The facility is located in a remote area, making the provided housing the most practical option
• Flight reimbursement is available; economy class only, and detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted for reimbursement
• Flight itinerary must be provided one week prior to start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival (return trip pickup not included)

• Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license; pending license submissions accepted
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Prior experience in Med/Surg Telemetry, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown settings required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Ability to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and administer cardiac drips (no titration)
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
