Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in Alabama, with IV therapy, wound care, and float charge nurse responsibilities.

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand or pending
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Current fit test required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• Medical/Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
• Skills required include IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Schedule is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00) with an option for 4x12s
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Charge nurse responsibilities on an as-needed basis
• 8-week contract
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as a permanent employee are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Local candidates within a 60-mile radius of the facility are considered, though at a different pay rate
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Hospital housing is available on-site - shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male/female units only; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
• The facility is located in a remote area, making on-site housing a practical option
• Flight reimbursement is available for travelers flying to and from the assignment (economy class only)
• Meal breaks are required - skipping the 30-minute lunch break is not permitted
