American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with an active Alabama or compact RN license, NRP and ACLS certification, and at least 1-2 years of L&D experience for a night shift assignment.
Requirements- Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Experience with any electronic charting system required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience circulating and scrubbing for C-sections and assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures
- Labor and Delivery unit with a facility delivering 100-200 births per month
- Night shift, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
- 13-week assignment length
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Required to work at least 2 holidays during the contract period, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and/or New Year's Day
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn units
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including forceps/vacuum extraction
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents
- Support breastfeeding and lactation education for postpartum patients
- Manage complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
- Requested time off limited to a maximum of 7 days during the assignment
- Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
