Lab Technician

Food Safety HACCP Technician. Starting Pay Rate $22.42/hr
, raises each 6 months to $25.63/hr over 24 months.

Work schedule is night shift – 6pm–6:15am, 7 days on/7 days off, must work alternating weekends. 200% match on the first 3% of 401(k). BCBS of AL benefits package eligible on day one.

• Perform all HACCP program related tasks.
• Critical Control Point auditing, monitoring, verifying, and documentation.
• Completing, reviewing, and filing of all associated documentation.
• Conducting HACCP related system and equipment calibrations/verifications.
• Maintain an acceptable knowledge level of the FITCO HACCP plans and all supporting programs.
• Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively across departmental lines including working with USDA personnel.
• Work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold) and high or confined areas for extended periods of time.
• Offer assistance to Chemistry Lab and Micro Lab as needed.
• Enter data accurately and timely on all documentation and systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

• BS degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Food Science/Technology preferred.
• Current college enrollment working toward a BS degree in the above fields with hours exceeding an Associate Degree.
• Associate Degree in Chemistry, Food Science/Technology, or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT with ASCP certification required).
• At least 4 college-level courses (C average or better) in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science/Technology.
• Experience in a food industry laboratory or medical laboratory (not class work related).
• LIMS system experience is a plus.
• Understand and perform HACCP data, chemistry, and microbiology analysis.
• Basic mathematical skills: algebraic and formulaic calculations.
