Abrams Tank Mechanic (SCA)

$31.80/Hour

Responsibilities- Execute Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on M1A1 SA, M1A1ED
, M1A2 SEP V2, and M1A2 SEP V3 Abrams platforms - Install and implement Modification Work Orders (MWOs) on Abrams tank variants
- Diagnose and troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and components using technical manuals, flow diagrams, and diagnostic procedures
- Perform maintenance in both field and shop environments, on and off military installations
- Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment, and government property
- Support maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations at Fort Hood and other CONUS locations
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to gain access to U.S. military installations; NACI clearance eligible (if required)
- Minimum 1+ year of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably on the Abrams Family of Vehicles
- Technical Knowledge:
- Military vehicle maintenance tools and test equipment
- Technical manuals and diagnostic troubleshooting procedures
- PMCS and MWO execution
- Certifications/Licensing:
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a Tank Driver’s License
- Ability to pass Abrams Job Proficiency Certification
- Physical Requirements:
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- Work at heights and in confined/enclosed military vehicles
- Meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR)
- Work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
- Travel:
Ability to travel as required to support GDLS CONUS operations, including Fort Hood
