Duties
- Operate boom crane (Clyde Gantry Crane) mounted on rails between docks to load and unload heavy combat vehicles, industrial equipment, machinery, and general supply materials (some near 75-ton capacity).
- Operate electric, gasoline, or diesel-powered forklifts capable of lifting loads of 10,000 pounds or more (higher than 168 inches) to move loose, palletized, or heavy materials.
- Operate mobile crane (roustabout) equipped with a 22-foot hydraulic boom (capable of lifting up to 40 tons) to load, unload, and move heavy machinery, howitzers, and bulky supply items to/from trucks and rail cars.
- Perform precise positioning of heavy loads (e.g., combat tanks) onto rail cars or trucks while receiving signals from a groundsman and working in active areas with moving personnel and vehicles.
- Conduct operator-level maintenance on equipment, including limited lubrication, checking fuel and oil, making minor adjustments, and changing attachments.
- Observe safety precautions, regulate equipment movements to avoid overloading or improper stacking, and complete operating records and reports.
- Perform other assigned duties, including blocking and bracing of heavy combat vehicles when not operating equipment.
