Homeless Liaison Specialist
Position is responsible for supporting the needs of the homeless student population and ensuring the delivery of mandated services to facilitate the student's attendance and access to appropriate education. Position assesses students and families; interprets laws relating to homeless students; works as a team member to develop intervention strategies; provides case management; monitors student progress; and makes referrals. Position also acts as a resource to school staff, conducts related training, and serves as the foster care point of contact.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree (or higher) in Social Work
- Valid Alabama Social Work License
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Good organizational skills
- Record of sound moral character
- Basic knowledge of computers
- Prior experience in working with families and children – preferred.
- Establishes and maintains effective, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
- Abides by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
- Valid Alabama Driver's License
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.
Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
