• Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center base settings.
• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
• Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
• Assist with toileting, feeding, dressing, and self‑care procedures; implement behavioral management program; maintain student data; work with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Personal Care Assistant certification required, to be completed within 30 days of start date. Candidates must have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or have passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam.
Documentation will be required.

Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills. Competence with technology and computers. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform duties that may involve physical factors such as toileting, feeding, and self‑care procedures.

Basic pay:

• $20.00/hour to $23.95/hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience
• $21.15/hour to $25.10/hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience and 60 semester/90 quarter credits or associate or higher degree
• $22.00/hour to $25.95/hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience and BA degree

Additional pay:

• Special Education Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
• Special Education Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
