Position
Para educator Special Education – 2026-27 – Full Time (184 days, 6.5 hrs/day) – Anoka Middle School, Washington Campus
Responsibilities- Assists in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
- Manages behavior (redirecting, calming, removing disruptive student from classroom).
- Monitors and records student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Manages physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
- Provides physical support and performs physical factors such as toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, and implements behavioral management programs.
- Maintains student data and works with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.
- Works cooperatively with students and staff, takes direction, maintains regular attendance.
- Lifts a minimum of 40 pounds and performs all required physical tasks.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
- Computer and technology proficiency.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
- Ability to supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.
$20.00/hr to $23.95/hr for DOQ with K‑12 experience.
$21.15/hr to $25.10/hr with AA/AS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience.
$22.00/hr to $25.95/hr with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience.
Special‑Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 % or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50/hr.
Special‑Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.00/hr.
Benefits- Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
