Para educator Special Education – 2026‑27
Full‑Time 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day

3 Positions available Duties- Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or centre‑based settings.
- Managing behavior (redirecting, calming, or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
- Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Managing physical needs such as toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, and transporting students in wheelchairs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or passed the Para Educator or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communications, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
- Ability to supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Can perform position responsibilities including toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, implementing behavioral management, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior.
- Must be physically able to work in the building.
- $20.85 / hr to $25.50 / hr DOQ with K‑12 experience
- $22.00 / hr to $26.65 / hr with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester / 90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience*
- $22.85 / hr to $27.50 / hr with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience
- Special Ed Paras serving centre‑based students and classrooms 50 % or more of their time receive an additional $0.50 / hr.
- Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.50 / hr.
* Candidates must have completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or passed the Para Educator or Para Pro exam.
