Job Overview
The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI-Shot, Remington and Speer. We operate domestic manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri and serve law enforcement, government agencies and sporting enthusiasts worldwide. The Safety Engineer will report to the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety and be based at our Anoka, Minnesota location.
Responsibilities- Coordinate all activities of EOS Compliance, including the Plant Process Control Board and the EOS committee, and manage the 14 Process Safety Management compliance steps.
- Supervise outside agency inspections for the Federal Operations, issue inspection reports, and manage abatement actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training, including Plant Authority responsibilities, Contractor Safety, Lift Truck Operator, New Hire Orientation and general safety programs for the Federal Operation.
- Serve as incident command or assist in emergency operations at the Federal locations.
- Conduct industrial hygiene work: air sampling, monitoring, reporting, and ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Issue personal protective equipment and provide related training.
- Calibrate and maintain all hygiene monitoring systems and equipment.
- Perform safety inspections, assign and monitor abatement deadlines.
- Review new or revised OSHA, DOT, and other regulations and submit policy drafts or revisions to the Safety Manager.
- Develop teaching materials and act as training instructor as needed.
- Conduct accident investigations and assist in maintaining compliance with Vista Outdoors policies.
- Review changes in Standard Operating Procedures, Engineering Orders, Drawings, Safety Proposals, and Equipment Changes.
- Prepare, approve, and implement health and safety procedures in accordance with federal and governmental regulations, with emphasis on explosive safety, industrial hygiene, and process safety.
- Perform audits, training and investigations at other company facilities or locations as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field (years of experience may be considered).
- 2-5 years of experience with OSHA regulations; knowledge of DOT, NFPA, DHS, ATF, and ANSI regulations.
- Experience in ammunition and explosives manufacturing and industrial hygiene strongly preferred but not required.
- ASP, CSP, or CIH certification preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Sitting most of the time with occasional walking, standing, and light lifting (over 10 lbs.).
- Minor manual handling, stooping, kneeling, and occasional local travel and outdoor work.
- Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing.
- Hearing, speaking, and vision required (with or without correction).
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Reading comprehension and basic math skills required.
- Flexibility to handle interruptions, multiple tasks, and a variety of people and situations.
- Quick thinking and problem‑solving to assimilate information efficiently.
- Maintain professionalism, tact, and discretion with confidential information.
- Initiative to complete tasks with little supervision.
Telephone, calculator, personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, printer and a variety of industrial hygiene monitoring and calibration equipment.
Working EnvironmentWork occurs in an office environment with some time spent in the manufacturing plant. Employees may be exposed to temperature changes, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects, machine tool lubricants and explosive hazards. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.
Pay Range$71,900.00 - $ (annual salary based on experience, location, education and other factors).
