We are seeking a Land Surveyor Technician for the Anoka County Transportation Division. The role will support surveying functions, including boundary, topographic, and right‑of‑way surveys across county projects.
Pay & Benefits- Salary: $57,262–$67,288 ($27.53–$32.35 per hour) based on experience.

Location:
1440 Bunker Lake Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304. Expected hours:
Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Collect accurate field survey measurements using survey instruments in accordance with applicable standards.
- Perform boundary, topography, and right‑of‑way surveys for county projects.
- Maintain Public Land Survey monuments and related records.
- Prepare graphic displays, drawings, and maps for county departments.
- Use CAD, GIS, and other software for preparing and checking documents.
- Maintain county maps, plats, and aerial photos and disseminate information to departments and the public.
- Conduct research on legal interpretation, map assembly, and field notes conversion.
- Stay current on technology such as GPS, CAD, total stations, and digital levels.
- Maintain survey instruments and measuring vehicles through routine maintenance.
- Provide coaching or mentoring to assigned subordinates.
- Accreditation from a technical school or trades program in land surveying or civil engineering.
- At least 2 years of job‑related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and successful background check.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of land surveying techniques, construction specifications, environmental statements, and federal and state laws.
- Problem‑solving, data analysis, and advanced mathematics (trigonometry, algebra, coordinate geometry).
- Attention to detail.
Standard office and outdoor work sites, often in unfinished structures, construction areas, rough terrain, and changing weather. Tasks include operating equipment, bending, stooping, reaching, and handling up to 75 lbs. Involves computer work, driving county vehicles or personal vehicles as required.
