Join a growing R&D design team where you will design and develop sheet metal-based cooling and distribution systems supporting large‑scale data center and AI infrastructure programs.
This role is part of a centralized R&D team that launches new products and partners with engineering and manufacturing to take products from concept to production. The work environment is dynamic, with frequent design iteration driven by customer needs and production feedback.
Full time, direct‑hire with a hybrid schedule – 4 days/week on-site in Anoka, MN.
- Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings for sheet metal components and mechanical systems used in coolant distribution units and manifolds.
- Generate manufacturing‑ready documentation including drawings, BOMs, and specifications to support internal production and external suppliers.
- Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) from concept through prototyping, validation, and release to production.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing engineering, and production teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability (DFM) requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and multi‑functional problem‑solving to develop practical solutions.
- Support prototyping and pilot builds, including hands‑on involvement to resolve fit, form, and function issues.
- Initiate and implement engineering changes (ECOs) in response to design updates, manufacturing feedback, or customer‑focused changes.
- Perform tolerance stack‑ups and basic design calculations to validate designs prior to release.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of design and documentation standards.
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design, or related technical field.
- Ideally 5+ years of mechanical experience in drafting/design.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as Solid Works or Creo.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design principles and metal fabrication processes.
- Experience creating detailed drawings and documentation for manufacturing.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Working knowledge of GD&T preferred.
- Ability to manage numerous projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working across engineering and manufacturing teams.
Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Compensation Range: $54,300.00 - $. Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
