  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build team capability in first principles thinking, risk identification, critical thinking, and proactive problem solving.
  • Remove barriers that slow engineering productivity or create unnecessary friction.
  • Communicate information clearly and effectively to build buy-in, influence others, and support successful delivery.
  • Promote a "scrappy but disciplined" approach focused on customer and business value, not bureaucracy.
  • Identify skill gaps and create targeted development plans that support professional growth and succession planning.
  • Recruit and onboard strong electrical and controls engineering talent.

  • Be aware of team members doing the right thing, then acknowledge and encourage them.
  • Care for your team members personally by being empathetic and encouraging work/life balance.
  • Delegate, encourage team members to innovate, and be the first to pick up the pieces with them if things do not go as planned.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the development of robust, scalable, and maintainable electrical design and controls programming practices for custom converting, packaging, and coating machinery, and automation.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of electrical architecture, controls platforms, design standards, reusable hardware and software solutions, and documentation practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and design reviews for complex, high-risk, or first-of-kind systems.
  • Drive sound applications of PLC, HMI, motion control, servo, industrial networking, machine vision, robotics, and safety control technologies.
  • Champion electrical safety, machine safety, control panel design, and compliance with applicable customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, I/O documentation, and software deliverables are complete, accurate, serviceable, and released on time.
  • Ensure technical and execution risks are identified early in the design phase and drive proactive mitigation plans.
  • Drive consistency in engineering standards while maintaining flexibility for unique or outlier projects.
  • Implement lessons learned and feedback loops from design, panel build, machine assembly, debug, validation, installation, and field performance.
  • Partner with service and manufacturing teams to improve machine reliability, troubleshooting effectiveness, and lifecycle support.
