Estimator, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer

Anderson Dahlen is seeking Estimators to support our custom stainless steel manufacturing projects for food, pharma, and industrial customers. In this role, you will review drawings and specifications, perform material and labor take-offs, and prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed quotations. You will collaborate closely with engineering, fabrication, and sales to refine scopes, assess risks, and optimize value for customers. Estimators help maintain pricing databases, support bid reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, specs, and RFQs for stainless steel fabrication projects
• Perform detailed material, labor, and subcontractor take-offs for custom equipment
• Develop accurate cost estimates and formal quotations within deadlines
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and sales to clarify scope and assumptions
• Analyze vendor quotes and select cost-effective materials and services
• Maintain and update costing databases, rates, and historical bid data
• Participate in bid reviews and support pricing strategy decisions
• Identify cost drivers, risks, and value-engineering opportunities
• Support project handoff from estimating to production teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools and processes
