What Will You Do?
Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor the Maintenance Technician plans and performs work relating to the maintenance and/or repair of; building, mechanical and/or electrical equipment, buildings utilities, company vehicles, all manufacturing equipment and appropriate office equipment or furniture.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Maintain and repair shop equipment in a manner which is timely, effective and safe, while minimizing down time.
* Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.
* Replace or repairs machine belts.
* Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
* Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
* Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings.
* Operates welding equipment for maintenance purposes
* Maintain records for shop equipment, parts replaced, time to repair and any suggestions for improvements.
* Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program, which includes safety inspection items for shop equipment.
* Support placing purchase orders to maintain spare parts and designated supplies.
* Make recommendations and participate in making improvements to equipment and building.
* Maintain machine files and related documents for the equipment.
* Assist with outside equipment contractors for safety inspections, equipment adjustments and repair.
* Maintain a clean and orderly shop and work area.
* Maintain good relationships with co-workers while encouraging teamwork concept for maximum productivity and quality.
* Ability to work independently in a timely and safe manner and consistently complete tasks within the time required.
* Assist with production work as needed.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase performance.
* Assist with training new employees as needed.
* Assist Safety Committee and support Safety programs
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements for Effective Performance:
* Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; three (3) to five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* Thorough knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment is desired.
* Excellent mechanical aptitude
* Familiar with electrical aspects and troubleshooting electronics.
* Proficiency in basic computer skills.
* Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Skills/Abilities/Specifications:
* Able to work overtime as required.
* Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in group settings with other employees within the organization.
* Comprehend simple instructions, both oral and written, pertaining to customer orders.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
