Metal Finisher
This role focuses on finishing stainless steel components by grinding welds to a smooth, consistent surface and polishing them to a mirror finish. You will work with stainless steel parts after fabrication, remove imperfections, and ensure each piece meets high quality and aesthetic standards. This position suits someone who enjoys hands-on, repetitive production work and takes pride in precise, detailed craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Receive stainless steel parts after they have been welded and prepare them for finishing.
- Grind welds and surrounding areas to achieve a smooth, uniform surface on stainless steel components.
- Inspect welds and surfaces carefully to identify defects, imperfections, and inconsistencies.
- Buff and polish the exterior of stainless steel parts to a mirror finish using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Use a straight liner to accurately edge sheet metal and maintain clean, consistent lines.
- Perform repetitive production work while maintaining consistent quality and pace throughout the shift.
- Handle and operate grinders and related finishing tools safely and effectively for most of the shift.
- Stand for the majority of the shift while performing grinding, polishing, sanding, and deburring tasks.
- Follow fabrication and finishing instructions, including any provided blueprints or reference materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and facility guidelines.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of metal finishing or grinding experience.
- Hands-on experience working with grinders or similar finishing tools.
- Mechanical inclination, which may come from backgrounds such as construction, lube technician work, manufacturing, or other hands-on trades.
- Strong attention to detail to identify defects, imperfections, and inconsistencies in welds and finished surfaces.
- Comfort with repetitive production work and holding a grinder for most of the shift.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift while performing manual tasks.
- Interest and desire to work in grinding and metal finishing.
- Basic understanding of fabrication and finishing processes.
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and work instructions consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with polishing, sanding, deburring, and other metal finishing techniques.
- Experience reading or working from blueprints or fabrication drawings.
- Exposure to or interest in fabrication environments and stainless steel work.
- Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers (preferred but not required).
- Interest in developing skills that can lead to welding opportunities, particularly TIG welding on stainless steel.
- Openness to cross-training in related fabrication or manufacturing tasks.

This position is based in a very nice, air-conditioned manufacturing facility with a dedicated finishing area. The shop features state-of-the-art equipment in a modern, new building, providing a clean and organized work setting. You will use grinders, straight liners, and other metal finishing tools throughout most of your shift, and you will stand for the majority of the day while performing grinding, polishing, sanding, and deburring tasks.
The finishing team has its own area within the facility, and employees have access to a separate, well-appointed break room. The environment supports repetitive production work with a focus on safety, quality, and consistent processes.
