Position Summary

The Team Lead supports the day‑to‑day business unit department goals through team leadership and communication, safety, quality, and delivery. They ensure uninterrupted production flow in assigned processes and provide problem support and coaching to employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively supports training efforts of the entire team, including new hires; takes a proactive approach in training plans and coordinates employee training to ensure procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Ensures the team is aware of company messages, schedule changes, and procedures; communicates effectively with other stakeholders.
  • Supports the production process by filling in positions on the line when necessary to maintain the flow of work during absences (vacation, PTO, rest breaks, etc.).
  • Provides regular recognition to the team and individuals and keeps applicable supervisors informed.
  • Displays knowledge of lean principles, keeps metrics updated, and regularly promotes improvement ideas; acts as a change agent to drive out waste throughout the department through the deployment of lean methodology.
  • Consistently follows nVent policy and practices; maintains objective decision making and communicates effectively at all levels.
  • Enforces company and department policy within the team.
  • Supports safety metrics and risk‑reduction initiatives through regular safety inspections, observation/risk cards, and ensures safety of the team; promotes a behavior‑based safety culture—including safety improvements, risk notification processes, and regular coaching.
  • Engages with committee members to drive improvements in the area and campus.
  • Supports and drives quality improvements and reduction of rework metrics by implementing proactive quality improvement ideas and supporting the entire NCR cycle.
  • Promotes focus on quality work through coaching, training to standards, identifying quality errors, and ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Supports on‑time delivery metrics by ensuring efficient flow of work.
  • Identifies obstacles, promotes takt time, and resolves barriers; prioritizes and communicates completion of past‑due items and closure of work/sales orders.
  • Provides backup to the Production Supervisor and coaches operators directly, escalating recurrent behaviors to the Supervisor.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3–5 years production work experience (preferred).
  • Computer experience with Windows Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards, and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of all operations of the assigned production process.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures and ability to promote compliance.
  • Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate job expectations to production staff and achieve desired results through monitoring, coaching, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Reliability and punctual attendance; ability to report tardiness, attendance issues, and disciplinary concerns to the Production Supervisor.
  • Ability to conduct operator training on standard work, including work instructions, machine adjustments, product quality, and company and value‑stream policies and procedures.
  • Capability to identify and support continuous improvement efforts with the Production Supervisor.
  • Ability to sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Ability to keep a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing business circumstances and ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
Compensation

Compensation Range: $23.90 – $44.40 per hour. Depending on the position offered, the employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
