Description
Gray’s Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services to design, manufacture, integrate, install, and maintain some of the most advanced systems on the market. The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen delivers end-to-end equipment design‑build and contract manufacturing, with precision fabrication—cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and complex assemblies—backed by engineering, integration, and complete process solutions including skids and sanitary platforms tailored to customer applications.
Anderson Dahlen is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant.
The wage range for this role is estimated at $64,000–$95,000 annually. Compensation is adjusted based on skill sets, experience, certifications and other business considerations.

RequirementsPrepare accurate cost estimates for fabricated metal components and assemblies by gathering information, analyzing critical metrics, and performing risk assessments. This role requires fluency in manufacturing processes, strong knowledge of bills of material and routings for metal products, and experience with ERP estimating systems. The Estimator works closely with internal teams, vendors, and customers to support successful project execution.
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Working knowledge to proficient GD&T, welding symbols, and AWS/ASME welding codes.
- Understands parts, projects, and customer requirements.
- Determines key variables for labor, material, and process costs.
- Researches and analyzes manufacturing methods, production times, and materials.
- Gather, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Performs risk analysis and identifies cost drivers.
- Creates and submits accurate estimate reports or bids to project managers, sales teams, and customers.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and statements of work.
- Utilizes ERP and other quoting systems to develop estimates.
- Applies basic mathematics and problem-solving skills to estimating activities.
- Communicates clearly through presentations and written documentation.
- Supports continuous improvement efforts and process standardization.
