Registered Nurse – Sheriff's Office, Temporary

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care addressing inmates' psychological, physical, and mental health needs
• Perform assessments during intake/booking, sick call, chronic care, medical unit visits, and emergencies
• Review, coordinate, and administer medications and treatments
• Arrange additional healthcare services, including dental, medical, psychological, laboratory, and other appointments
• Implement nursing care and medical orders safely and responsibly
• Maintain medical records related to screening and treatment
• Train correctional officers and staff on medical procedures
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, and patients
• Provide care across all shifts in a 24/7 jail environment
• Work at Anoka County Jail, 325 Jackson Street, Anoka, Minnesota

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis
• Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota
• Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation
• Previous correctional health or similar experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills preferred
• Minimum of 4 shifts per month, including 1 weekend per month
• Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required
• Ability to perform required physical activities, including lifting 0–25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to work in a correctional/detention environment with possible exposure to bodily fluids, infectious agents, chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, and other hazards
• Compliance with Sheriff's Office tattoo policy

Demonstrates expertise in providing comprehensive nursing care in a correctional environment, including assessment, medication administration, and training staff on medical procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with colleagues and patients.
