The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi‑skilled maintenance, repair, and basic construction tasks across all Transformation House residential and office sites. This role ensures that buildings, grounds, and equipment remain safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards. The technician works mostly independently, responds promptly to safety‑related work orders, and supports a safe environment for clients and staff.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and emergency maintenance across multiple residential and office facilities.
- Complete safety related work orders the same day or within 24 hours of receipt.
- Conduct basic construction tasks including but not limited to:
- Drywall repair and patching
- Installing or repairing interior doors, locks, and hardware
- Installing shelving, cabinetry, and storage solutions
- Minor framing or structural reinforcement within code limits
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing fixtures, and appliances.
- Ensure all work meets structural and safety code compliance standards.
- Maintain interior and exterior facility conditions, including grounds, walkways, and parking areas.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal, lawn care, and debris cleanup.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Follow OSHA basic safety practices.
- Maintain a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
- Understand and comply with HIPAA and confidentiality expectations.
- Interact respectfully with clients, including individuals considered vulnerable adults, ensuring their rights and dignity are upheld.
- Maintain communication of work orders and repairs statuses and timelines.
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Operations and site staff regarding project status and safety concerns.
- Attend required training, meetings, and continuing education sessions.
- Provide on‑call coverage as assigned.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Demonstrated experience in general maintenance, handyman work, or construction trades.
- Basic knowledge of:
- HVAC systems
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Plumbing fundamentals
- Structural and building code compliance
- OSHA safety practices
- Ability to lift 60+ pounds and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Professional, respectful conduct when interacting with clients, including vulnerable adults.
