Position: Sewer & Water Maintenance (I or II or III or IV DOQ) (FT)

NOTE:
We will be hiring one (1) candidate. Either a Maintenance I or Maintenance II or Maintenance III or Maintenance IV depending on the person's qualifications.

This position is responsible for performing servicing, repairing and construction work of the various sewer and water facilities, distribution and collection system. The position will be filled as Maintenance I, II, III or IV position / DOQ.

WAGES (2026)
  • Sewer & Water, Maintenance I: $29.21/hr to $30.21/hr DOQ
  • Sewer & Water, Maintenance II: $34.11/hr to $35.11/hr DOQ
  • Sewer & Water, Maintenance III: $38.93/hr to $39.93/hr DOQ
  • Sewer & Water, Maintenance IV: $41.40/hr to $42.70/hr DOQ
MAINTENANCE I MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Operation of equipment such as lift truck, backhoe, bobcat, etc.
  • Assist in routine preventative maintenance tasks to the collection and distribution system; i.e. exercising gate-valves, repairing hydrants, flushing water mains, repairing chemical feed equipment, etc.
  • Assist in inspection tasks of lift stations, elevated towers, hydrants, pumps and filter plants.
  • Assist in preparing and painting equipment and structures.
  • Other public services maintenance tasks as assigned, particularly in emergency situations or to balance seasonal workloads and schedules.
  • POSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Some knowledge of sanitary sewer and water system maintenance and operation.
  • Some knowledge of lift stations and filtration plants.
  • Basic mechanical ability to operate a wide variety of equipment; i.e. jackhammer, packer, etc.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with various types of transmission.
  • Must be able to respond within 45 minutes to City Public Services facilities.
  • Ability to assume standby (on-call) status when Supervisor determines necessity and capability to perform.
  • Must work scheduled hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must wear safety equipment as required and follow established safety practices and procedures.
  • Creates a favorable image of the City in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations.
  • Effective communication with supervisor and coworkers.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned by the Public Services Director or Supervisor, or other designated individual.
  • RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS

    Supervises:
    May provide work direction and/or training to seasonal employees as directed that are doing gate valve maintenance and sewer maintenance.

    MAINTENANCE II MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Operation of equipment such as lift truck, backhoe, bobcat, etc.
  • Assist in routine preventative maintenance tasks to the collection and distribution system; i.e. exercising gate-valves, repairing hydrants, flushing water mains, repairing chemical feed equipment, etc.
  • Assist in inspection tasks of lift stations, elevated towers, hydrants, pumps and filter plants.
  • Prepare and paint various pieces of equipment and structures.
  • Other public services maintenance tasks as assigned, particularly in emergency situations or to balance seasonal workloads and schedules.
