Employee Qualifications
  • Experience working with students in the grade levels served by the school. Must have at least an associate's degree, although a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, administrators and parents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses the ability to relate to students with behavioral problems.
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving, organizational skills, planning, record keeping and computer literacy skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education or the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goals
  • To support the school administration in its mission to create and maintain a positive school climate.
  • To provide support, as requested, for a positive and structured in‑school Student Support Center where students can address factors causing disciplinary issues such as time management, organization and study skills, and/or feelings of disconnection from the larger student body.
Job Description
  • Works in conjunction with the School Climate Advisor and attendance staff to input student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program in order to maintain accurate records of student behavior and attendance.
  • Responsible for assisting other school staff during lunch to promote a positive school climate.
  • Assists with structured activities for students during recess.
  • Works collaboratively in developing schedules, routines, and coverage for the cafeteria, recess and student support center.
  • Consults with faculty, administrators and other special services personnel on student behavioral issues.
  • Maintains records related to the Student Support Center and inputs student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program.
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the building administrator.
