At the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) we are recruiting for an English Instructor to join our team at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School in Ansonia, CT.
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic English Instructor who is committed to fostering a rigorous, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students. The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge in high school English curricula along with a thoughtful, student-centered approach to planning, instruction, and assessment. This role requires intentional lesson design that meets diverse learning needs through differentiation, collaboration with support staff, and adherence to individualized education plans.
The English Instructor will cultivate a classroom culture grounded in mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and high expectations while effectively managing procedures and student behavior to maximize learning opportunities.
- Schedule:
First shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday. - Location:
Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, Ansonia, CT. - Salary: VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.
- Academic Calendar: 10-month calendar (188 days per year).

Planning and Preparation
- Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation.
- Knowledge of English content and pedagogy of all high school English curricula.
- Understand the varied needs of each student.
- Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming.
- Ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented.
- Set instructional goals and outcomes.
- Knowledge and use of varied instructional practices and resources.
- Effectively design instructional learning opportunities.
- Effectively design assessments.
Classroom Environment

Instruction
