About the Job

Country focus; ensures compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. Contributes to development of country strategies, translated into action plans. Oversees implementation of Protection program across three locations in the South-East; provides technical support, oversight, and capacity building for protection partners.

Sector responsibilities
  • Advocacy for the rights of displaced people.
  • Individual protection assistance based on vulnerability.
  • Legal aid, sexual and gender-based violence prevention.
  • Registration services for IDPs and refugees.
  • Monitoring of rights and rights awareness-raising.
  • Community based protection and information dissemination.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Update and roll out protection strategy and action plan.
  • Lead design and review of protection concept notes, logical frameworks, budgets, and proposals.
  • Develop integrated program concept notes and donor presentations.
  • Strengthen protection mainstreaming in all interventions, especially the Economic Recovery program.
  • Engage with local and international NGOs and governments.
  • Support MEAL in developing monitoring and learning approaches.
  • Maintain technical links with regional and global counterparts.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical experts.
  • Represent DRC in coordination meetings and working groups.
  • Act as focal point for communication with UNHCR, sector partners, and the protection community.
  • Ensure integration of protection activities with other sectors.
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and donor documents.
  • Provide daily support and supervision of the Protection Research Unit.
  • Advise on research topics and methodologies.
  • Lead annual needs assessment and rapid assessments.
  • Translate research findings into policy and programmatic recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to teams and partners.
  • Guide on project implementation and reporting.
  • Prepare regular reports for stakeholders.
  • Support the Protection Unit and guide technical staff.
  • Design capacity development plans.
  • Travel to the field for technical support.
  • Ensure tools, SOPs, and guidelines are regularly updated.
  • Support capacity building of implementing partners.
  • Lead capacity assessment and building plans.
  • Review partner technical proposals and reporting.
  • Conduct field visits and online oversight meetings.
  • Attend technical review meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Programme.
About you

Master’s degree in political science, international development, economics, or a related field.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 4–5 years of technical experience in the protection sector with an INGO or UN agency.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading, managing, or coordinating a protection program.
  • Experience with key institutional donors such as ECHO, DANIDA, SDC, and BPRM.
  • Experience in protection monitoring, research, or M&E.
  • Documented skills in project planning, drafting, calculation, and technical writing.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in project and strategy development.
  • Experience with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organizations.
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
    Arabic and/or Turkish is a strong asset.
