Personal Profile:
The Student Ministries Pastor is a person who is and models the life of a Christ follower. Succeeding in this role will require someone who loves rising to meet challenges. They will be able to work independently and also connect easily with colleagues and direct reports. This position needs a natural leader who both inspires and challenges their teams and raises the bar for their ministry.
We are looking for a problem solver, an “outside the box” thinker who is innovative while controlling the big picture. A person who is socially poised and extraverted, who loves to make their mark, and won’t shy away from risk. This Pastor will rally the team around projects—confidently making decisions and delegating tasks before moving on to their next project.
This person enjoys working as part of a team, can take direction and input from senior leaders and creatively execute responsibilities within the boundaries outlined.
Purpose:
The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for facilitating, designing, coordinating and overseeing a comprehensive youth ministry program for both Junior High and High School. Areas of focus include group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary preacher for High School Ministry and support the preaching team for Junior High Ministry.
- Collaborate with church leaders to plan, develop and implement all aspects of a balanced and engaging youth ministry.
- Lead and coordinate midweek programming for both High School (Tuesday nights) and Junior High (Wednesday nights).
- Pursue continuing education events and training opportunities within youth ministry practices.
- Recruit, train and develop volunteers for all aspects of youth ministry.
- Ensure adequate volunteer support and adult‑to‑youth ratios.
- Develop and implement Sunday morning and mid‑week experiences for all youth.
- Lead and execute winter and summer camps.
- Lead the annual mission and discipleship training programs and trips (Impact for Junior High and SMI for High School).
- Maintain accurate records of youth participation.
- Manage and compile the youth ministry budget for reporting purposes.
- Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents, and congregation in a timely manner using available resources.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to allow for approved visits with youth in various settings.
- Collaborate with church staff in a cohesive and open team environment.
- Mentor youth and provide counseling and spiritual direction aligned with church ministry strategy.
- Provide oversight and direct supervision to volunteer youth leaders.
- Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Associate and Lead Pastor.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Experience:
- More than 2 years in full‑time youth ministry.
- Experience developing, organizing, and managing youth programs.
- Experience working with children, teenagers, young adults, and diverse groups.
- Demonstrated relationship with God and growth in faith.
- Training in organizing volunteer efforts, leadership skills, exercising discretion with confidential information, and program/meeting planning.
- Coordination of activities and dissemination of information related to youth programs, camps, and travel arrangements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, conflict management, and computer skills.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, editing, and extracting information from policies, guidelines, manuals, reports, contacts, invoices, and correspondence.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Christian Studies/Ministry. Seminary training is advantageous.
Salary Range: $50,500 - $62,000 per year
