Overview

StFX is a top ranking Canadian university and we are seeking a Special Events Coordinator to be a part of the Ancillary Services team. This opening is a full time position commencing as soon as possible. Reporting to the Manager, Conference Services, the Special Events coordinator will assist clients with planning and coordinating internal and external events. The primary function of this position is to ensure the client's requirements are determined and all expectations are met in a professional and courteous manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating internal and external events
  • Aid in preparation of business proposals and contracts with clients
  • Coordinate client needs with multiple departments including but not limited to Food Services, Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, Liquor Services and external contractors to meet client requirements for meetings and events
  • Provide accurate and detailed client information following event completion
  • Weekend and evening work required
Qualifications
  • A minimum Diploma in Hospitality, Business or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 2 or more years experience in a similar role. Experience in a University environment will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Problem and solution oriented decision making required
  • Strong work ethics and success at working in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up with an eye for detail
  • MS office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) experience helpful
  • Experience working with and communicating to customers a must
