Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special needs students. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of individual education plans. Provide routine clerical support. Generally, provides service to students in Special Day Class Programs, CBI classrooms, or to students with Moderate/Severe special education needs.

EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent; experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Licenses and other requirements:
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire. EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA) FEDERAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or district assessment/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA are required. PROOF IS REQUIRED.

SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS:
The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience. Application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion to be placed on the eligibility list. Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list. Required along with your application and responses to supplemental questions:

  • NCLB Compliance (ESSA Compliance: College/University transcript that shows 48 units or more)
  • OR Paraprofessional Testing
  • Resume
