Library Media Technician II

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K
-12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.

Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list.

Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the principal, perform a variety of library duties in the acquisition, circulation, maintenance, processing and distribution of textbooks, library books and instructional materials at an assigned middle or high school site; assist students and teachers in the selection, location and use of library materials and equipment.

Work Hours/ Work Year: 4 to 8 hours per day / 11 Months (220 Days)
CSEA Hourly Salary Range 128:
Step A $29.58, Step B $31.08, Step C $32.65, Step D $34.30, Step E $36.04, Step F $37.86

EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and three years clerical or library experience including work with computer operations and library circulation functions.

SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS:
The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for qualifications and completeness. A written/performance exam (weighted 40%) and an oral panel interview (weighted 60%) will be conducted. The exam dates are to be determined. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
