The City of Antioch is seeking a highly organized, resourceful, and strategic professional to serve as its next Grants Coordinator. This position will play a critical role in researching and identifying grant funding opportunities, pursuing new revenue sources, coordinating grant applications, and managing the administration and compliance of awarded funds in support of the City’s priorities. The ideal candidate will bring strong research, communication, project management, and analytical skills, along with a proactive approach to securing resources that enhance City programs, services, and community initiatives.

Description

Under general supervision, the Grants Coordinator performs professional-level work in the research, identification, development, coordination, administration, monitoring, and compliance of federal, state, regional, local, and private grant-funded programs and projects. Responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, coordinating grant development efforts across city departments, preparing and submitting competitive grant applications, administering awarded grants, monitoring compliance and performance outcomes, and providing technical expertise related to grant funding and resource development.

Serves as the city's subject matter expert on grant opportunities, funding strategies, and grant compliance.

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Research, identify, and evaluate federal, state, regional, and private grant opportunities that align with City priorities, strategic initiatives, and departmental needs. Coordinate with the City Attorney’s Office, funding agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure grant agreements, contracts, and related documents comply with legal and programmatic requirements.
  • Recognize that certain departments may independently administer and monitor their own grant programs; serve as a centralized resource to support grant research, coordination, tracking, and implementation assistance while departmental grant managers retain primary responsibility for program administration and compliance oversight.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to management regarding grant funding opportunities, grant priorities, program eligibility requirements, and strategies to maximize external funding resources. Develop and maintain a centralized grant management and tracking system to monitor grant opportunities, application status, award activities, reporting requirements, compliance deadlines, expenditures, and project milestones.
  • Monitor grants administered through this position for compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and funding agency requirements; assist departments with reporting, recordkeeping, and grant closeout activities. Coordinate and support the implementation of grant-funded programs and projects, including project planning, stakeholder engagement, budget coordination, and interdepartmental collaboration to achieve grant objectives.
  • Collaborate with City departments to assess funding opportunities, coordinate grant development efforts, and provide technical assistance in the preparation of grant applications, proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit grant applications and related materials, including budgets, environmental reviews, performance measures, compliance documentation, and other required grant records, as assigned. Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and updates to City management, City Council, commissions, funding agencies, community stakeholders, and other governmental or regional partners regarding grant activities and funding opportunities.
