Description
Position SummaryThe Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, optimizing, and supporting a multi-site campus network environment. This role will manage and enhance network connectivity across campus locations using dark fiber and MPLS technologies.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Cisco networking experience, solid network architecture and design skills, and practical experience with enterprise firewalls, wireless networks, and cloud-managed infrastructure. The Network Engineer will work closely with IT leadership, systems teams, security teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure a secure, resilient, and high-performing network.
Key Responsibilities- Design,implement,maintain,andtroubleshootenterprisenetworkinfrastructureacrossmultiplecampuslocations.
- Administerandsupportswitching,routing,wireless,andnetworkmanagementtechnologies.
- Manageconnectivityutilizingdarkfiber,MPLS,Internet,andotherWANtechnologies.
- Designandmaintainnetworksegmentation,VLANs,routingdomains,accesscontrolpolicies,andhigh-availabilitysolutions.
- ConfigureandtroubleshootdynamicroutingprotocolssuchasOSPF,EIGRP,andBGP.
- Troubleshootcomplexnetworkincidentsandperformroot-cause analysis.
- Participateinplannedmaintenance,change management,disaster recovery,andbusinesscontinuityactivities.
- Createandmaintainaccuratenetworkdocumentation,includingtopologydiagrams,IPaddressplans,configurations,andoperatingprocedures.
- Coordinatewithtelecommunicationsproviders,hardwarevendors,contractors,andmanagedserviceproviders.
- Participateinanon-callrotationandrespondtocriticalnetworkoutageswhenrequired.
- Bachelor’sdegreein
Information
Technology,Computer Science,Engineering,orarelatedfield;equivalentexperiencemaybeconsidered. - Strong hands-onexperiencewith
Ciscoroutingandswitchingtechnologies. - Experiencewithdarkfiber,MPLS,Ethernettransport,andWANconnectivity.
- Demonstratedunderstandingofnetworkarchitecture,redundancy,scalability,andhighavailability.
- ExperiencewithIPv4,IPv6,VLANs,STP,trunking,portchannels,QoS,DHCP,DNS,NAT,andIPaddressing.
- ProficiencywithroutingprotocolssuchasOSPF,EIGRP,andBGP.
- Experience with Cisco Merakiorsimilarcloud -managednetworkingplatforms.
- Strong troubleshooting,analytical,documentation,andcommunicationskills.
- Abilitytomanagemultipleprojectsandprioritiesinadynamicenvironment.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) orequivalentexperience.
- Palo Alto Networkscertificationorhands -onexperiencewith
Panorama. - Fortinetcertificationorequivalent Forti Gateexperience .
- Experience with Ciscowireless,Merakiwireless,orcomparableWLANplatforms.
- Experiencewithnetworkautomation,scripting,or infrastructure-as-codetoolssuchas
Python,Ansible,or Terraform. - Familiarity with
CiscoDNACenter,CiscoISE,networkaccesscontrol,and
802.1X. - Experiencewithmonitoringandmanagementplatforms.
