About the Role
Environmental Laboratory Manager – Stack. Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, training and mentoring staff, and ensuring high‑quality, on‑time laboratory data for project managers.
Key Responsibilities- Follow established testing methods, procedures, and processes to support consistent and reliable source testing.
- Receive, prepare, and process environmental samples; prepare reagents and instrument kits for lab use.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis.
- Interpret, document, and report data obtained from analysis; review data and reports for accuracy.
- Deliver accurate and on‑time results to Project Managers.
- Manage laboratory expenditures and maintain fiscal responsibility.
- Assist field teams in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation.
- Prepare laboratory equipment kits for field use and assist crews on site with sample preparation and recovery.
- Oversee and train Laboratory Technician(s) and/or Assistant(s).
- Practice safety methods and procedures, reporting all potential dangers and hazards.
- 2+ years of stack testing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred; high school diploma acceptable with demonstrated experience.
- 2+ years leading a team and 4+ years working in a laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of stack testing analytical methods, instruments, general lab practices, and safety.
- Proficient with Google and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Willingness for occasional overnight and local travel.
- Valid Driver’s License required; ability to obtain DOT medical certification and OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Evaluation.
Physical Requirements
Work in outdoor industrial settings, including climbing to and working on elevated platforms (50–300ft) per OSHA/ANSI and other applicable safety standards. Must exert moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50lb. Often works outdoors and may be exposed to hot, cold, and extreme weather conditions.
