Early Childhood/Preschool For All Teacher
The early childhood/Pre School for All teacher is responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth of students. The teacher plans and implements lessons in a variety of subjects, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to ensure the success of each child.
Essential duties and responsibilities include providing learning experiences in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts, foreign language, social/emotional development, and other subject matter suited to the needs of children. The teacher develops and uses instructional methods and materials suitable for instruction of children with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities presented through multiple learning modalities.
Additionally, the teacher provides ongoing observation and authentic assessment of children and maintains documentation of each child's progress and growth. They develop individual educational plans (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, or social development and prepare developmental progress reports as needed. The teacher provides individual and small-group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self-concepts.
The teacher works as IEP case manager, overseeing delivery of service minutes and ensuring IEP compliance, as well as communicating with all related service providers. They communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, newsletters, home visits, and individual parent conferences. The teacher complies with DCFS mandated reporter guidelines.
Qualifications include a Professional Educator License (PEL), a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Early Childhood Special Education (ECT) OR Endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education (ECS3), and Endorsement in English Language Learner.
