Volunteer - Public Safety Reserve Peace Officer

Overview

Positions in this class assist police staff with a wide range of tasks that are crucial to the department's daily operations. This is a volunteer position and does not offer any compensation.

Reserve Officers are integral to the operations of the Apache Junction Police Department, providing essential support to the Patrol division. These volunteer officers work alongside our full-time staff, improving efficiency and contributing to the department's overall mission.

• Proactive patrol
• Assist with traffic control on police scenes and during events
• Participate in police-related community events
• Assist in routine tasks around the department

• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
• Must be AZPOST certified
• Must complete FTO within the Apache Junction Police Department
• Ability to communicate clearly through police radios
• Ability to take direction and adhere to chain of command during field operations

• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Follow oral and written instructions accurately
• Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Attend required meetings and trainings

A minimum of one year of service is required, with a commitment of at least 20 hours per month.

Seven (7) Days a Week

Hours Will Vary. Must be 21 or more years old. Current AZPOST certified or attending an Arizona law enforcement academy. Out-of-state certified officers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
