Volunteer Counselor, Final Phase of Life

There are residents in the terminal phase who have little or no family or loved ones around them. For these residents, we are looking for dedicated volunteers during this phase.

As a volunteer, you offer proximity, a listening ear, peace and quiet, and attention. You're not there to provide medical care, but to offer humanity and support, both to the resident and – where possible – to their caregivers.

• Being present with residents in their final phase of life
• Providing emotional support to the resident and/or their loved ones
• Providing a quiet presence: being there, listening, being silent together
• Performing small supporting actions (e.g., passing a drink or reading something aloud)
• Supporting caregivers to stay involved

• You are stable, patient, empathetic and calm
• You can listen well and be present without immediately doing
• You have an affinity with guiding people in the final stages of their lives
• You are willing to follow training and attend meetings
• You can act independently within clear agreements
• You like to read about the residents' groups of Atlant

• Participation in consultations and training courses organised by the volunteer pool coordinator
• Contact the coordinator after each deployment moment
• Willingness to gain knowledge about our resident groups
• Flexible availability, to be determined in consultation

• Good guidance by a permanent coordinator
• Training and education that support you in this special role
• Appreciation, collaboration and connection with other volunteers
• The chance to really make a difference in someone else's life
